Bioidentical Hormone Replacement

Bioidentical hormones are used to replace your hormones when they become deficient.

Women have 3 main hormones - estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. As women age, they reach peri-menopause. This is the stage of life right before menopause.

Many women will experience serious symptoms while going through peri-menopause. These include hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, depression, decreased libido, vaginal dryness.

Weakened Bones and Bone Density

You could also experience weakened bones or decrease in bone density. So osteopenia and osteoporosis can also be helped by replacing your hormones.

There's also BHRT replacement for women that aren't peri-menopausal that experiencehormonal imbalances. These women usually experience heavy menstrual periods, fibroids, fibrocystic breast disease, problem getting pregnant, and progesterone deficiencies linked to infertility.

Hormone Replacement for Non-Menopausal Women

So hormone replacement isn't just for peri-menopausal women. There's many women out there that have progesterone deficiency that leads to estrogen dominance where you don't have enough progesterone to oppose the effects of estrogen on your tissue that can lead to common symptoms such as heavy bleeding, fibrocystic breast disease, and severe PMS.

BHRT vs Synthetic

Bioidentical hormones are different than synthetic hormones in that they are natural and the same molecular structure as the hormones found in our own body.

Synthetic hormones are man made in a laboratory. Synthetic hormones aren't natural and aren't identical.

Natural Progesterone Cream

BHRT comes in cream form. This is good because it bypasses your gut metabolism and bypasses the liver.

BHRT is different than oral estrogen pills in that estrogen pills must go through your liver and this can aggravate clotting factors which significantly increases your risk for blood clots and thus heart attack and stroke.

With progesterone cream, you don't get as much risk of the blood clotting.

BHRT can also help with aging and weight loss.

BHRT Testing

BHRT Testing Hormone Levels

Traditionally when doctors do hormone tests, they look at your blood.

It's called a serum test. A serum test is just a snap shot picture of what your hormones are as a whole. The test doesn't give us what's being used. It doesn't give us a picture of how they are actually working.

Bioidentical hormones are all about creating hormones tailored to what your needs are.

With BHRT testing, the scientist basically goes in and measures the levels of your hormones as a whole and what your body is using as a whole.

They use different means of testing such as saliva testing, urine testing, and blood testing.

Between the combination of these 3, the doctor looks at how your body is using hormones and what you specifically need.

Saliva Test

The saliva test is totally non-invasive.

This test is a practical and reliable way to screen for all of the major ways for someone to be at risk for hormone imbalance.

Blood Spot Test

The blood spot test is the newest advancement in BHRT testing.

This test expands the types of tests we can spring for. This test allows the doctors to comprehensively diagnose the situation.

Both the blood spot test and saliva test take just a few minutes to complete.

These tests can be evaluated within a matter of days.

The results come back in easy to understand reports for both the provider and patient to review.

From there, your doctor can work with both you and a BHRT consultant to help determine the best course of action for you to take.

The bottom line is that you can be on your way to feeling better very soon.

These tests are safe, easy, and affordable. Often the test itself is covered by insurance.
