Tips for using the Medela Breast Pump...

It's a good idea to have extra replacement parts at work or in a bag in your car. From time to time you may forget all the pieces and if you're pumping 3 or 4 times a day, you can't afford to be without  all the pump parts.

Pumping both breasts at the same time reduces the pumping time by half. Pumping for 15 minutes every few hours during a work day will likely be often enough to keep your body producing enough milk.

Also, remember to pump often. The more often you pump, the more milk you'll produce.

If you're with your baby, breast feeding usually works better than pumping. The more you breast feed, the more milk you'll make and be able to pump.

Relaxing activities will help you keep your milk supply up. Stress can hinder production. Also, eating healthy foods helps. Be sure to drink plenty of liquids.

If you're trying to lose some weight, breast feeding can burn 300 to 500 calories a day.
